What’s in a name?
The naming of my healing practice was elusive to begin with. But once I came upon Moonfyre Alchemy and declared it – I knew for sure that this was the right one.
Moonfyre is the blend of two aspects rooted deep in my soul. The Moon and of course the element of Fire!
I go by the name Moondancer, which partly came about from a previous existence. Perhaps it led me to discover my love of fire poi. Perhaps it was pre-ordained.
Alchemy is a medieval chemical science and speculative philosophy that aimed to transform base metals into gold, cure diseases, and prolong life.
It also means a mysterious or impressive transformation of something in a figurative sense. So it seems pretty fitting to apply it to the healing aspects of the work that has been unfolding before me. Once a person has decided to embrace the rituals around self care and self love, they stand on the threshold of landscape filled with vast opportunities and probabilities for immense transformation. Sometimes the quest begins with a physical ailment, most often there is an emotional healing that needs to be identified and tended to. The physical “symptoms” we think need healing and attention are merely the manifestations of thought patterns, habits, beliefs and past traumas we have woven into our lives.
